Happy Independence Day, America.
Right now, we might be having a hard time finding things to celebrate. So many have lost their jobs, are suffering hard times and financial crises. But today, especially today, even in the midsts of turmoil, we look around as see our blessings, and a major blessing among many is freedom.
Historically, nations and empires have the staying power of about 200 years. Today America celebrates 233, and while it’s clear to those with eyes and ears and hearts that we have our challenges, we are not without hope. We still retain the power to turn ourselves around.
Many died and were maimed to see to it, and their sacrifices should be remembered. Not with lip service but with genuine gratitude. Their gift to future generations was liberty.
And now it is our generation’s turn. Will we too gift future generations with liberty? With freedom?
I pray that we will. I pray we will rise with one voice–an American voice–and shout from the rooftops . . .
Let freedom ring!
Blessings to you and yours, and may God bless America!
