HURRICANE–WRITERS REPORT IN
Like so many other writers located in hurricane territory, I am waiting to hear about extended family in Gulfport, Long Beach, and Pass Christian, Mississippi as well as in New Orleans and its suburbs. All of my mother’s relatives are there. From film footage, I’ve seen the home I grew up in flooded, my first home as an adult, gone. Seeing your history obliterated is humbling, sobering. But it’s nothing compared to worrying about the people in your life.
So far, the only one who has been able to check in has been via email. Cellphones, landlines are all out.
I’m also worried about my writing friends, many of whom are in New Orleans, Mississippi and Alabama. Gulfcoast RWA members, NOLA Members–so many others. Many writing friends are worried. Please, those who can, check in.
I’m adding a page to my www.itgirlsseries.com website that will list ONLY the names of those who are known to be okay. Please, if you can, check in. If others have checked in with you, please let me know that, too.
To be added to the list, or to add those you have heard from and know are safe: Email me at: vkhinze@aol.com.
If you want to check to see who has checked in, that url will be: www.itgirlsseries.com/hurricane.htm.
I’m just starting this project, this morning. But I’ll add names just as quickly as I get them.
May we all hear good news that eases our minds…
Blessings,
Vicki
